General Information About Polonnaruwa

Polonnaruwa is the 2nd largest kingdom in the Island. The history of the kingdom dates back to 1070. It is situated in 224km away from the capital. Today, it has been named as a World Heritage Site and remains as one of the best planned archeological relic sites in the country. Famous attractions include ancient ruins of temples, stupas, Parakrama Samudraya (a huge tank) and even Hindu temples.
