General Information About Sigiriya and Dambulla

Sigiriya is an ancient city, a rock fortress and a place located in Matale district. The history of Sigiriya dates back to the 3rd century BCE. The distance from Colombo is 169km. This ruin is surrounded by gardens, ponds, fountains and other structures. Sirgirya is included as a World Heritage Site. It also renowned for its ancient paintings (frescoes) which exhibit unique Sri Lankan style.

Dambulla is a large town situated in Matale district, 148 km away from Colombo and 72 km distance from Kandy. Major attractions of Dambulla include the largest cave temple complex, Dambulla International Cricket Stadium and Minneriya National Park.
